After completing law school at UBC in 1978, Jim was called to the British Columbia Bar in May 1979. Initially he practiced with a large Vancouver law firm where he went on to become a partner. Jim then shifted his practice to that of in-house counsel for a multi-employer pension and benefit plan for 11 years before settling into his community based practice in the Edgemont Village.

Jim’s years of experience and exposure to the many areas of law have helped him to define his core business — helping people with their wills, trusts and estates. Clients appreciate the patient, professional manner in which Jim handles their legal needs. He takes pride in helping his clients take a comprehensive look at developing their plans to protect not only their current quality of life but also that of their family’s future and continued quality of life.

Other areas of emphasis include:
  • pension and benefit issues
  • buying and selling businesses and real estate
  • corporate reorganizations and small business issues
Jim lives in West Vancouver and has a passion for self-propelled wilderness pursuits on both land and water. He has been active as a volunteer with Scouts Canada for over 35 years as well as also having served on the boards of Outward Bound Western Canada and the Lions Gate Hospice Society.
