The inaugural No Regrets Basketball Tournament, hosted by the Quinn Keast Foundation (QKF), took place December 10-12th in the gymnasiums of some of our local North Shore high schools. Digby Leigh & Company, along with ten other sponsors, provided support to the foundation to bring this tournament to life and our own Scott Leigh sat on the organizing committee.
Nearing 10 years of existence, the Quinn Keast Foundation has hosted basketball games, built outdoor courts and awarded scholarships to numerous high school students, all while taking the ‘No Regrets’ approach. It was with great pride and excitement that the Quinn Keast Foundation took on the responsibility for the operation of this tournament that was formally known as The North Shore Invitational Basketball Tournament. It only seemed fitting that this long time staple tournament of North Shore basketball be re-branded as the “No Regrets Basketball Tournament”.
Historically, the tournament has only been host to a boys bracket, but the No Regrets Basketball Tournament expanded its roots by adding an 8-team girls division to the lineup this year. The tournament was host to not only numerous North Shore and Lower Mainland teams, but also teams from Prince Rupert, Kamloops and Calgary.
In its inaugural year, the tournament was incredibly successful. Charles Best Secondary took the championship in the girls division and Western Canada High School were the winners for the boys. In addition to putting on the tournament, the Quinn Keast Foundation also gave two $500 scholarships to worthy grade 12 student-athlete candidates who best represented the values and playing style that Quinn embodied.
