A Lawyer's Right Hand

Our very own Nabila Lalani was recently featured in Capilano University’s 2018/2019 Viewbook as the Student Representative for the Faculty of Business and Professional Studies. A strong advocate for higher education, Nabila hopes to pave the way for future generations by creating greater and more affordable access to academic resources. Read on for Nabila’s full story.

Ever since taking Law 12 in high school, Nabila Lalani had a fascination with the legal profession. Pondering the next steps in her career as she earned her undergraduate degree in criminology, she discovered Capilano’s Paralegal program.
“I really enjoyed the intellectual challenge,” Nabila says. “That together with the exceptional faculty members were what allowed me to flourish.”
Now, as a paralegal in Digby Leigh & Company’s real estate department, Nabila plays an integral role in day to day operations — working closely with the lawyers, drafting and reviewing documents, and communicating with clients and outside counsel.
Being able to help clients through an exciting time in their lives — like purchasing their first home — makes all the hard work worth it.
“The most rewarding part is seeing their reactions at the end of a deal,” she says. “We aren’t in this field to be rewarded but when your clients appreciate the work you do, it makes it that much more worthwhile.”

2016 No Regrets Basketball Tournament

The Quinn Keast Foundation hosted its second annual No Regrets Basketball Tournament this past weekend, and the tournament was an absolute success. The No Regrets Basketball Tournament is a high school seniors basketball tournament that features both girls and boys teams from across Western Canada. The tournament games are hosted at various North Shore high school gymnasiums, and the teams competed at an extremely high level during this 3-day tournament. After the dust settled it was South Kamloops taking the title over Handsworth in the final of the boys division, and Charles Best claiming victory over Walnut Grove in the girls division final.

Digby Leigh & Company alongside a number of other members of our community, were part of the No Regrets Basketball Tournament Organizing Committee that both sponsored and helped put this event together. For a review of the tournament, including further game results, game stories, all-star teams, photos, historical tournament statistics and scholarship recipients please visit the website at www.noregretsbball.com.

TechPong 2016

This past week we had the pleasure of both sponsoring and participating at the truly unique Vancouver fundraiser TechPong. Spearheaded by our local tech community, TechPong invites the Vancouver tech industry to participate in an epic ping pong tournament and raise money for causes in their community that they care about.

After a month plus of hard work training on our ping pong table and fundraising for our charity of choice, North Shore Rescue we set out to do battle on November 15th at the Imperial. Digby Leigh & Company's ping pong all stars went head to head versus some of the tech industry's heavy hitters (including a Microsoft employee who is a former European champion; true story). We fought valiantly and shocked the tech world having our single's rep Scott make it all the way to the semi finals and our doubles team of Digby Sr. and Scott make it to the quarter finals. Ben and Kaitlyn who represented DL&C as our second doubles team did not disappoint either; they earned the distinguished titles of 'most fun' and 'best dressed'. Also a very special shout out to the huge contingent of DL&C fans who came out to cheer on our players.

The event was a tremendous success raising a grand total of $52,692 for a variety of community causes. We were particularly proud of the $1,629.25 we were able to raise for our cause of choice North Shore Rescue. Good fun. Great cause.
